Highly recommend this amazing spot. Price is fair, food is amazing and the atmosphere is romantic. The drinks are good too. We wanted something different than traditional Catalan after 3 days of eating our way around the city. My husband and I were very satisfied!
Overview
Tucked into C/ de Muntaner, 182, Eixample, 08036 Barcelona, Spain, Little Andaman brings a burst of South Indian soul to one of the city’s most elegant neighborhoods. I first walked in on a humid summer evening after hearing several glowing reviews from local food critics and expat groups. The dining room was warm and colorful, with subtle island-inspired décor that instantly set the mood. It didn’t feel staged or overly polished; instead, it felt lived-in and welcoming, like a place where recipes are taken seriously and hospitality even more so.
The menu leans heavily into flavors from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, regions known for their layered spices and coconut-based curries. If you’ve ever read studies from organizations like the National Geographic Society about the health benefits of traditional Indian diets, you’ll know that many South Indian dishes are rich in lentils, fermented batters, and aromatic spices such as turmeric and cumin. At Little Andaman, those elements aren’t just present-they’re celebrated. The dosa, thin and crisp, arrives folded around masala potatoes that are gently spiced rather than overpowering. The fermentation process behind dosa batter, which typically takes 12 to 24 hours, gives it that signature tang and airy texture. You can taste the patience in every bite.
One standout for me was the fish curry. I’ve tried similar versions in Kochi during my travels, and I was skeptical about how well it could be recreated in Barcelona. Yet here, the balance of tamarind, curry leaves, and coconut milk felt authentic. The chef explained that they source specific spices directly from trusted suppliers to maintain consistency. That attention to sourcing mirrors what the Food and Agriculture Organization often highlights about traceability and ingredient quality in global cuisine. When restaurants care about origins, the final dish shows it.
Service is another reason this spot keeps earning strong reviews. On my second visit, I brought two colleagues who had never tried South Indian food. The staff took time to explain the difference between sambar and rasam, and even suggested pairing the thali with a mango lassi to cool the heat. That kind of guidance matters, especially in a city like Barcelona where diners might be more familiar with Mediterranean flavors than mustard seeds and asafoetida. Complex concepts, like tempering spices in hot oil to release essential aromas, were broken down in simple, friendly terms. It felt educational without being pretentious.
The location in Eixample is strategic as well. Surrounded by modernist architecture and busy shopping streets, Little Andaman offers a flavorful escape from tapas bars and seafood grills. While Barcelona is famous for paella and jamón, the city’s culinary scene has grown increasingly international over the last decade. According to data from the Barcelona City Council, the number of international restaurants has steadily increased, reflecting a demand for diverse dining experiences. This restaurant fits right into that evolution.
Prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes. A full meal with starters, mains, and drinks sits comfortably within the range of other mid-tier restaurants in the area. The menu also includes vegetarian and vegan-friendly dishes, which aligns with broader European dining trends. The European Vegetarian Union has reported a steady rise in plant-based dining across Spain, and Little Andaman clearly understands that shift. Their chickpea curry and coconut vegetable stew aren’t afterthoughts-they’re stars in their own right.
Of course, no place is perfect. On particularly busy nights, service can slow slightly, especially when large groups arrive. Still, the staff remains attentive and transparent about wait times, which builds trust. In my experience, consistency across multiple visits is what defines a reliable restaurant, and here the flavors, presentation, and overall atmosphere have held steady.
If you’re browsing locations in Eixample and scanning reviews for something beyond the usual, this address on C/ de Muntaner deserves serious consideration. From carefully fermented dosa batter to expertly balanced curries, Little Andaman offers more than just a meal-it delivers a thoughtful, well-executed taste of South India right in the heart of Barcelona.

Nice and cozy place with a really pleasant atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The ambiance is warm and well cared for, perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal. The salmon curry was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and clearly prepared with attention to detail. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional without being intrusive, which always makes a big difference. On top of that, the prices are more than acceptable for the quality of the food and the overall experience. A great spot that delivers on food, service, and value. Highly recommended and definitely worth coming back for.
Super positively surprised by the food quality vs the price. Attentive and fast service, plenty of vegan options, delicious food, amazing decor and yummy Indian-flavoured cocktails. Definitely recommend and will come back for sure!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Spain. Truly exceptional food. Little Andaman is an absolute standout. Every single dish I’ve tried here has been incredible, and the consistency is unreal. There’s so much depth, balance, and confidence in the flavors. Nothing feels rushed, toned down, or confused. Each plate feels intentional. The Boatman Fish Curry is unforgettable. It has that perfect balance of tanginess and heat, with layers of flavor that hit immediately and then linger. It tastes exactly like how it’s meant to taste back home, rich, bold, comforting, and deeply satisfying. You can tell this dish comes from a place of tradition and real understanding of flavor, not imitation. What impressed me most is that there are no weak dishes. I’ve tried multiple items and every single one has been a hit so far. That’s rare. The food feels soulful, precise, and made with care. I’ve eaten here in person twice, and I’ve also ordered Uber Eats twice in the same day because I couldn’t stop thinking about the food. That’s how good it is. This place genuinely feels Michelin-star worthy. If you appreciate food that is bold, authentic, and unforgettable, Little Andaman is a must. I’m completely obsessed and will keep coming back.
Liked it a lot. Food was great. Service was amazing and great trendi look and atmosphere. Everything is marked for gluten free

So good!! We randomly decided to pivot here for dinner and wished we had found it before our last night. The vegan dishes were incredible.
Sanjay and Anushka's hospitality is incredible. We keep coming back to Little Andaman for a taste of true Indian food. My husband is Indian and he begs me to come to this place. Don't miss out on the kulfi, which is likely the best one you will ever try! The cocktails are also great!
